If you have insurance, you may be able to get reimbursed

  • I am an out-of-network therapist.

    • If you have a PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) plan, you may be reimbursed for a portion of the cost.

    • I do not accept:

      • Medi-Cal, Medicaid, Medicare, Kaiser, or HMO plans

      • These plans do not provide reimbursement for out-of-network therapy

How it works

  • You pay the full session fee at the time of service

  • I provide a superbill for reimbursement

    • This is a receipt with the information your insurance company requires for reimbursement

  • You submit the superbill to your insurance company

    • Some plans allow direct submission through an app or portal

  • Reimbursement depends on your plan

    • You must meet your deductible before reimbursement begins

    • After that, your plan may reimburse a percentage of the “allowed amount” (not the full session fee)

  • PPO plans vary

    • Higher-tier plans often reimburse a larger portion

    • Lower-tier plans may reimburse less—or nothingIf you’re not sure what your plan covers, you can contact your insurance provider and ask about out-of-network mental health benefits
